Surf's Up!

Just saw it this morning. And I did not have very high expectations going in. One, it was a movie with Penguins. Of late, there've been so many. But, I was wrong.

This was not a Penguin-centric movie at all. It was all about Surfing. The protagonists happened to be penguins, that's all.

Cody Maverick, born in Shiverpool, Antarctica, is a natural born surfer and is generally considered a bum by everybody on the island. Then, he gatecrashes his way into the biggest surfing contest on Earth and sets out to beat the reigning champion, the big mean Tank Evans. 

 Full of some excellent characters and a whole new way of presentation, this one is recommended.

The whole movie is presented as a documentary. A bunch of people making a surfing documentary with Cody Maverick as one of the central characters. And it really works well for the movie. 

The Animation is top-notch. The waves, the old grainy documentaries and the general ambience is done extremely well. 

Overall 4 stars.
