First of all, a disclaimer: I never liked Shahid Kapoor before and I disliked Kareena almost to the point of hating her before this movie. But, this movie has changed my thinking considerably. In fact, I had gone to watch Bhool Bhulaiyya and Jab We Met was never in my scheme of things, but luckily there was no show of BB and I had to buy the tickets of JWM and I didn’t have to regret.
Obviously, the movie revolves around the Kareena who plays the character of a bubbly, innocent, full of life girl who talks more than our Neha chats on Orkut :D, takes life as it comes, never bothered to think what future has in store for her. On the other hand, our hero is a dude, a billionaire, who inherited the business empire of his family, but stung by a mother and a girl both of whom left him for some other men, he is going into big losses and is unable to cope with the stress. Broken, one day he decides to leave it all, he sets off to a destination that even he didn’t know what it was, with no money in his pocket, no mobile phone, completely cut off from the outside world. He boards a train and meets Geet (Kareena) who is going back to her village in Punjab and has a plan to elope with her boyfriend and settle in his hometown, Manali. But obviously, everything won’t go as it is planned. Together, they go through a lots of ups and downs, lots of happy and a few sorry moments, they take you along their journey. Its no different than any other masala Bollywood movie, full of drama, emotion, romance, music, laughter, tears, but rest assured the tight script, complimenting performances, and a refreshingly new plot would never give you a moment of boredom. FINAL VERDICT: If you have taste buds for those typical romantic bollywood movies, if you bunked your school/college for DDLJ, Ham Aapke Hain Kaun, and the likes, you are surely going to love this movie. I am not saying, its in the league of DDLJ or HAHK, but like all the great romantic movies of yesteryears, it will make you think like you are a part of the story. Want to have a good weekend, want to take your someone special and watch the movie holding his/her band, or you some non-Indian guy/gal who is pressing you to take him/her along for a bollywood movie, this movie is for you. Go watch it Biatch!!.. p.s.; I am off to watch Bhool Bhulaiyya in a few minutes ;D. |
